• Identify basic cells in a normal peripheral blood smear and their major functions.
• Recognize morphologic features of iron, vitamin B12, and folic acid deficiency on a peripheral blood smear.
• Be familiar with morphologic features in the peripheral blood of patients with hereditary red cell disorders.
