Secretory Granules EM

The electron micrograph of pancreatic acinar cells shows the secretory granules localized to the apical side of the cell. Note their uniform dark appearance due to the high concentration of proteins and other macromolecules. Fusion with the plasma membrane releases the contents of the granules into the extracellular space.
