Sebaceous Glands

Sebaceous glands are pear-shaped glands with pale staining cells that produce sebum, an oily, moisturizing, waterproofing substance. The cells release sebum by holocrine secretion. The glands connect with the hair follicle via a short duct called the pilosebaceous canal.
