Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a disease that affects the optic nerve and involves a loss of retinal ganglion cells, commonly as a result of increased intraocular pressure. Increased intraocular pressure is often due to problem with the drainage of aqueous humor via canal of Schlemm. In this slide, note how the optic disc is depressed due to increased intraocular pressure.
