Eosinophil EM

An electron micrograph image of the eosinophil shows its bilobed nucleus as well as the many granules containing major basic protein. Eosinophils bind antibodies on the surface of parasites and then degranulate to release proteins and enzymes which disrupt the plasma membrane of parasites. Eosinophils can also phagocytose and destroy bacteria but to a less efficiently than neutrophils.
